Long weekend, lot’s of news, important ones.

Let’s start with probably the most important one: stem cells – in here – this will open a huge door to research and to development. There are dangers of course, but the only way we can solve some disseases like cancer is by researching, a lot. Obama overturns Bush narrow sight, and move foward , it’s just anotehr step… Foward!

China is moving forward as one of the worlds top countries in the next few years, and violence seem to be back again in the Northern Ireland – The future has a lot of question marks on it. The way the world we live is changing, our chalanges are new every second. Here is a great presentation to make you think about that. It’s a must see!

I’m sure for some republicans the title of these kind of news will be “Obama Keeps war until end of 2011!” but the times schedule is quite feasable and even Mccain agree on it.

Not a victory, it’s only a start, b ut never the less, another firm step towards a honeste and firm answer to the world we live in today. From now on , the war has a end date. Iraq will be at last is own ruler.  In the first 100 days Obama is facing most of the problems witout fear, or lobbys, or economic interests.  The world is greatful.

WAR IRAQ US MILITARY

I know this seems like an empowerment of Obama, almost to positive. I’m sure we will, on the way, make mistakes. But this start of term is really thrilling for me.

My main curiosity now is to see who republicans will send in on TV, after that Jindal joke, maybe it’s time Rush Limbaugh to step in. Where are you Rush?

Tonight a different direction in American politics: Bush asked America’s youth to fight for the Country, Obama asked them to learn for the country.  Huge contrast.

The world keeps turning around and the economy still doesn’t seem to easy our minds. That’s the main story of the last few days, lot’s of jobs lost, major corporations losing a lot of steam. Economis seem to divide their opinions, either this is going to be a huge slump, one we never witnessed before, or this will start to come around this year. Either way, we are going to see this society a lot differently in a few months.

Social policies are demanded right now, and governments got it just a little too late. In Europe unnemployment is spreading around like a plague, and European Union has it’s first obvious advantage : the euro. Without it, many more Iceland’s would be bankrupt right now.

In the states, Obama didn’t have a good start, but one thing we have to grant him – he has had a honest one, and that is a lot more then we can say from the last US presidents. The stimulus plan is huge in amount and in importance to the entire world. The new paradigm has started; we simply still don’t have a clue about what it really is…

vatican_0718I’m not a catholic, my education was catholic but for a number of reasons made my path and my beliefs went in a different direction.  I’m a non believer now.

One of the reasons catholic church seems ( as an institution ) more a criminal then a religion is, in my opinion the words against the use of condom, a perfect crime against many people, many of those in regions were poverty doesn’t allow many people to have enough information to have an opinion and fallow the church line.

The catholic church will be judged by this, as they are judged now for the dark middle time ages, where their crimes are know acknowledged, and even if we cannot count the deaths, aids as killed many people, much of whom by lack of information and hypocrisy from the catholic church.

Now we se the pope take a step behind in terms of having an institution that is able to say something to the new generations – he didn’t need to do this, John Paul II had solved this matter a few years ago, but no… This pope Benedict XVI, took back into the spotlight some bishops that are open holocaust deniers.

This fact, is not only a mockery of John Paul II’s moving and impressive repudiation and condemnation of anti-Semitism, but also the opening of a gap between catholic church leaders and their believers.

Like me, many more people started catholic by education, and got far and far from the church and far from their leaders – catholic church is simply placing a big question remark over the legacy of John Paul II.

With Clinton on board Barack Obama start’s his mandate.

Sure the oath of office didn’t went very well, but the things that really matter started right away on his speech. His first speech as President of the United States of America show a lot of different things. obama-lincoln-cp-w6109957

I point out to 3 aspects of his speech, first of all, the tone was not a happy, celebrational one, but a tone that remembered each American of the difficulties ahead, second, the way he criticised George Bush with him sitting right next to him, on a ceremony where usually is nothing more then a huge party, shows a lot of spirit and will to chenge things arround.

For me probably the most important reference in his speech, was the accepantance of the “non believers”, in which group I include myself. It means an openness not only to the “non believers” but most important then that, a truly meaningful intent to treat all peoples and religions beliefs as equal. It’s a great step. If you simply hear the speech you might not notice that, but those 2 words might mean a lot more to the world then all the rest of the text.

You can’t ignore that most conflicts nowadays have a profound difference in beliefs on his basis. For the first time the USA seem to head without any pre concepts to the path of respecting every belief.

These first 3 days were as expected, Guantanamo closed in a year, some interests in the middle east  Afghanistan and Pakistan. Nothing new, we can’t judge nobody for 3 days… but the prospects are untouched…
